Grants

Please contact us over email (eurocrocnetwork@gmail.com) if you need financial support to attend the meeting, including registration fee waivers, and for support with group accomodation

  • Where can I stay?
Hotel B&B Hotel Berlin-Tiergarten have given us an offer for the dates of the conference, that can be booked exclusively via email at berlin-tiergarten@hotelbb.com Please quote the conference name “European Croc Networking Meeting” so they know to offer you the rate of 102,05€ p/room p/night (single room), with city-tax and breakfast included. This offer can be booked up to June 23th. Rooms booked by attendees can be cancelled free-of-charge up to 7 PM on arrival day. No upfront payments are required, guests can pay at the reception upon arrival. All rooms are soundproofed, air-conditioned and equipped with a flat-screen TV and pay-TV channels. Wi-Fi is also available free of charge throughout the hotel. The hotel is walking distance to the Zoo, and easy travelling distance using public transport (S-Bahn station Tiergarten) to most of the sightseeing locations in Berlin. It is a little longer to travel to the Friday venue (IGB) but we will provide a recommended public transport plan for that day closer to the time. If you wish to stay near our IGB venue (Friday), in the sleepy lakeside suburb of Friedrichshagen, we recommend the Bölsche Hotel. Hostels We are organising a joint hostel booking, for €135 for three nights (Thurs-Sun) in central Berlin, with group dorms exclusive for ECNM attendees. If you wish to join this booking, please email us before April 30. We currently plan all-gender and women-only (for those who identify as women) dorms, but are open to suggestions of other gender-identity dorms to ensure everyone is comfortable! Just get in touch. We will share details of where we are booked, so those joining later can enquire with the same hostel.
  • How can I get there?
The Berlin-Brandenburg aiport (BER) is the Berlin airport, and is well connected via public transport to central Berlin. Germany has an extensive train network through the DB (www.bahn.de) that connect to Berlin, tickets can be bought in advance for better value (the main station is 'Berlin Hauptbahnhof' ) Within Berlin, there is an extensive and straightforward transport network. The two venues are quite far apart, but are joined by the S3 S-Bahn (overground train) line. The Zoo and Aquarium (Saturday Venue) are near the stop "Berlin Zoologischer Garten" and the IGB is near the stop "Friedrichshagen". We recommend staying near our Saturday venue, the Berlin Zoo and Aquarium. Continue to check your emails (once you've registered) and/or the Facebook page for more information about transport. Please feel free to use the Facebook page to arrange carpools or joint travel as we get closer to the event.
  • What if I need a visa support letter?
We can provide an invitation letter to attendees who require a visa to attend the meeting. Please contact us on eurocrocnetwork@gmail.com well in advance of the meeting. We will specify in the letter that we do not cover any of the costs of attendees joining us, so please ensure you have your own costs covered in advance of contacting us.
  • What meals are provided?
We will provide a light lunch on both days, a BBQ dinner on the Friday, and an informal meal at our evening venue on the Saturday. This is included in the ticket price. There will be provision to buy both soft and alcoholic drinks (own cost) on both evenings.
  • How much does it cost to attend the meeting?
We try and keep the costs as low as possible, so that no one is excluded from attending. However, we do budget our lower cost ticket so it covers the basic costs of hosting the meeting, which includes a light lunch and dinner on the two days of the meeting. If you cannot afford the attendance cost, please contact us over email to request a fee waiver. We may be able to offer additional financial assistance to attendees who require it, according to our grant eligibility criteria. Do get in touch to ask about this if needed. T-shirts are extra, if you want a t-shirt please select the ticket with the included t-shirt cost.
  • Is there any funding to support attendance?
If you require a fee waiver to join the conference, get in touch with us over email. We want to make the meeting accessible to all, regardless of financial circumstance. We may be able to provide a limited amount of additional financial support for attendees who require it, on a case by case basis along the same eligibility criteria as our grants (i.e. for those based in Europe, especially early career). Get in touch over email if you need help to attend and we will do our best.
  • Can I give a presentation or create a workshop?
We have a limited number of places for presentations and workshops, generally presenting on both new areas of work, as well as introductory sessions, on working with crocodiles and other relevant wildlife practices, including research, husbandry, management, industry and conservation. If you wish to give a presentation, please contact us on eurocrocnetwork@gmail.com before the end of May.
  • How do I submit a poster abstract?
We are still accepting poster submissions! Please email abstracts of no longer than 300 words to eurocrocnetwork@gmail.com with the subject line Surname_poster. The poster session is open to anyone wanting to share their work or wanting feedback on ideas, including, but not limited to, research projects, enclosure development, industry ideas, conservation and management approaches.
  • What workshops will be offered this year?
Find out more on the Speakers and Workshops 2025 page on the website.
  • What other activities do you recommend in Berlin?
We are working on some suggestions along with our local attendees and hosts! Sign up for the meeting and check your emails closer to the time!
